Wilmington, Delaware, November 30, 2006—Aloysius Butler & Clark (AB&C) president and CEO John Hawkins announced today that Sharon L. (Shari) Short has joined the full-service, Delaware-based marketing communications firm. Short most recently served as a partnership program coordinator for the National Cancer Institute (NCI), where she provided technical support for program planning, implementation and evaluation to NCI partnership agencies conducting cancer control programs. Her work there included developing and delivering cancer control training programs for national and local healthcare organizations, developing outreach initiatives for underserved and minority populations and providing assistance for the creation of literature and media campaigns for those outreach efforts using social marketing tools. Short also has held positions as community health planner for the Virginia Department of Health, director of education for AIDS/HIV Services Group in Charlottesville, Virginia, project director for the University of Virginia Department of Psychology, and staff member of the Commission on Family Violence Prevention in Richmond, Virginia. In addition, she did an internship with the Children’s Television Workshop (now Sesame Street) and with the National Parenting Association (now the Center for Work/Life Policy). Short earned a B.F.A. in cinema studies from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts in 1992, and received her M.A. in developmental psychology from Columbia University, Teachers College, where she was an honors student and fellow in the Center for Infants and Parents. In 1998 she was selected as one of three national fellows for the Price Fellow for HIV Prevention Leadership and spent a month working with the Division of HIV/AIDS at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia. “Shari’s vast experience in social marketing is a superb complement to the agency’s healthcare expertise and the social marketing work we’ve done over the past several years,” Hawkins said. “We are very excited to expand our social marketing capabilities and we’re confident that this will be a great benefit to our clients.” AB&C is a 35-year-old communications agency established in business-to-business and consumer marketing.
