John Hawkins, AB&C President & CEO, Honored at City Life Awards Event
Wilmington, DE — John Hawkins, President and CEO of Aloysius Butler & Clark (AB&C), one of Wilmington and the region's largest marketing communications firms, was named "Wilmingtonian of the Year" at the CityLife Awards event on Nov. 20. Hawkins received this recognition for his contributions to the revitalization and continuing growth of the City of Wilmington.
The CityLife Awards event is held annually by the City of Wilmington and the Wilmington Renaissance Corporation to recognize businesses, organizations and individuals that have made unique contributions to the City of Wilmington over a period of time. The event, which was held at Barclays Crescent Building on the Riverfront in Wilmington, Del., also serves as a fundraising event for the Wilmington Renaissance Corporation.
Hawkins, one of the founders of AB&C, lends his marketing communications and management expertise to all of the agency's clients. Through his leadership, AB&C supports various projects throughout the city of Wilmington with pro bono work, including this year's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, the DuPont Clifford Brown Jazz Festival, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Delaware, Meals on Wheels Delaware and the Rodney Street Tennis & Tutoring Association. The agency was also responsible for developing the city's "In Wilmington" campaign.
Outside of his business endeavors, Hawkins sits on the boards of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Delaware Community Foundation, Delaware Symphony Orchestra and Better Business Bureau. Hawkins has been recognized throughout his career for his contributions, including recent recognition at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Dinner of Champions.
Hawkins attended the University of Delaware and holds a degree in business administration. He has spent most of his career in Wilmington, including the past 28 years as a managing partner at AB&C. Last year, the agency expanded its portfolio to include ownership of Issacs Garage, a 67-year-old full-service auto repair business located on the corner of 8th and Washington streets.
